We are recruiting a part-time Recreation Aide for our long-term care community, Cerwydden Seniors Community, in Duncan, BC. This 56-unit, tight knit care home is a wonderful place to connect with fellow team members, residents, and their families.

Job Summary:

As a valued interdisciplinary team member, the Recreation Aide, under the direction of the Recreation Manager, implements recreation and life enrichment programs which meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of the residents. Ensures a commitment to resident safety and to our culture of safety as per strategic directions of Park Place Seniors Living.

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, implementing and evaluating recreation programs;
  • Ensuring Residents are involved in identified recreational activities;
  • Leading, instructing and motivating Residents in individual and group leisure pursuits;
  • Maintaining accurate Resident records;
  • Performing other related.

Must haves:

  • High school graduation with additional training in recreation, geriatrics or related area.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Food Safe.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check.

Preference

  • Ability to obtain Class 4 DL.
  • Experience working with seniors preferred.
