Under the direction of the Site Leader and the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the overall maintenance of the building and grounds. The responsibility of the position includes but not limited to:
Ensuring that all required checks are executed, promptly logged and documented.
Maintaining the building in a safe and operable condition.
Maintaining the building envelope and overseeing the grounds.
Executing on work orders, preventative maintenance using the Maintenance Care computer program.
Painting of vacant suites and touch ups in common areas.
Prioritizing items needing attention and repair.
Performing all routine, scheduled and emergency building maintenance.
Supporting the fire safety program for the home.
Ensuring in the winter that sidewalks, patios and all exit areas are clear of ice and snow; shoveling/sanding and salting as required.
Available to work Monday to Friday or as scheduled by the Site Leader
Qualifications & Experiences:
High School graduate
Journeyman Certificate in an appropriate trade for building maintenance
and/or minimum 2 years relevant experience is encouraged
equivalences may be considered
Skills & Abilities:
Effective verbal and written English communication, organization and interpersonal skills is required.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Extensive knowledge of building and fire codes, as they pertain to continuing care Homes.
Ability to work in teams collaboratively and communicate with others in a respectful manner.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
Ability to read and interpret building drawings and codes is preferred.
Computer skills including working knowledge of MS office.

WHMIS training and Occupational Health and Safety Certifications are assets.
