Social Service Worker/Registered Social Worker

Nelson, BC, Canada - Part Time

The SSW/RSW holds a leadership position in our Park Place Home. You will take lead with the interdisciplinary team through all resident admission processes while also providing guidance and comfort to new and present residents along with their families. This integral role provides our residents and their families with professional services by developing, implementing and monitoring programs which meet the social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs of the residents.

The Social Work role ensures a commitment to resident safety and to our culture of safety as per the Strategic Directions of Park Place Seniors Living. Providing assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for residents while working collaboratively with families and the multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct psychosocial care, counseling, system navigation and advocacy, education and the pathway to relevant resources. 

Scheduling Information:
Shift times are from 08:00 to 16:00 hours. Days of work are Monday to Thursday.

Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university desired.
- Two years related experience in a long-term care setting working with medically complex, impaired residents and those with Dementia. It would be beneficial if knowledge and understanding of Public Trustee and Guardianship roles/agencies. Willing to consider a combination of education, training and experience.
- Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (RSW).
- Or an equivalent amount of training, certification or work history.
- Current valid BC driver’s license.
