Casual 1ST Cook

Position:  1ST Cook Casual
Location: Bolivar Creek Retirement Residence, Surrey, BC
Salary: $20-25/hr
Position Summary:

The Cook  will prepare meals for the Residents in dining room.  Responsible to follow safe cooking practices and take direction from the Executive Chef and Food Services Manager.  A variety of culinary tasks will be required as well as standard cleaning tasks.  May be required to assist in food ordering, receiving and storage. 


Qualifications:

• Formal training in quantity food preparation from a recognized training institution or school preferred or experience in quantity food preparation preferred
• Must have food safe certificate level 1
• Previous experience in long term care preferred
• Must be physically fit and in general good health with the ability to push, pull and lift a minimum of 50 lbs and be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language
• Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and general safety
• Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to stay focused
• Reliable with attendance, working with all scheduled shifts in their entirety 
• Clear criminal record security clearance with Vulnerable Sector included (no more than 6 months old)
• Appropriately dressed
• Must be able to work independently, and as part of the interdisciplinary team
