The Recreation Manager holds a leadership position in the Park Place Home and is responsible to develop, implement and monitor programs which meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of the residents. Is responsible for department administration and programming. Ensures a commitment to resident safety and to our “culture of safety” as per the Strategic Directions of Park Place Seniors Living.

Resident Engagement & Documentation
• Maintains communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Records attendance, progress notes, and care plan updates using MDS and RAPs protocols.
• Participates in resident assessments and contributes to care planning.
Community Relations
• Builds relationships with community agencies and partners to enhance programming.
• Represents the organization in professional associations and community initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
• Adheres to and promotes health and safety policies and procedures.
• Reports incidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment issues promptly.
• Ensures safe use of equipment and infection control practices.
Health and Safety Responsibilities: 
• Responsible to read, understand and comply with Park Place’s and provincially-mandated
Occupational Health and Safety policies and safe work practices.
• Involved in all aspects of the Health and Safety Program including:
•  Uses safe work procedures,
•  Promotes health and safety policy and awareness,
•  Makes safety suggestions.
•  Reads OHS minutes posted.
• Responsible to take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of Residents, self, other
workers and the general public.
• Reports any near miss, injury, accident or equipment damage to supervisor immediately and
completes required reports.
• Corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions.
• Sets a good example.
Qualifications and Experience: 
• Degree or Diploma in Recreation Therapy or related field preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in recreation programming, preferably in long-term care.
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
• Class 4 Driver’s License (preferred).
• Experience with volunteer coordination and public relations is an asset.
• Equivalences may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
• Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
• Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team
• Ability to manage conflict, stress, and dynamic work environments.
• Proficient in clinical documentation and equipment management.
• Physical ability to perform therapy duties including lifting, walking, and bending.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, and stooping. In an average day the employee spends
approximately 5 to 7 1/2 hours walking and standing. Lifts a maximum of 50lbs., frequently lifting and/or
carrying of 20lbs. Must be able to manage stressful work situations with dexterity.
